Q&A

Gel Sheet Materials

QWhat is the thickness of the gel sheets?
AStandard products are 0.5-1.0mm, however you may contact us for other sizes.
QWhat is the size of the sheet products?
ANormally 250×450mm, however you may contact us for other sizes.
QWhat is the size of a roll?
ARolls are 300mm wide and either 1.0mm thick and 100m long or 0.5mm thick and 150m long. Each can be slit as needed.
QAre samples available?
AWe can provide 10cm square and A4 sized samples. Contact us for details.
QCan the gel only be used for bioelectrodes?
AThe gel has also been used successfully in electrodes for geological surveys in industrial applications.
QDoes the gel only conduct electricity ionically?
AYes, the gel only conducts electricity ionically.
QDoes the gel water content decrease?
ABecause the product is a hydrogel, the water content will decrease in high temperature or in dry environments, however the product is designed so that the water content is maintained under normal usage conditions.

Medical & Health Applications

QDoes the product cause rashes?
AElectrodes using our company's ST-gel are very safe and kind to the skin and produces a low level of skin irritation which is less likely to cause rashes.
QDoes the product provide stable ECG measurements?
AOur company's ST-gel is a low impedance gel which allows for accurate ECG measurement.
QCan electrodes be reapplied?
AAll electrodes other than HIT gel products can be applied repeatedly. HIT gel is tacky at first, but is not suitable for repeated applications.
QCan impedance be adjusted?
AA variety of designs are possible through different combinations of gel types, element materials and shapes.
QCan adhesiveness be adjusted?
AA variety of designs are possible through selection of different combinations of components such as gel properties and backing materials.
QWhat types of materials are used for electrodes?
AThe materials used include carbon, silver and silver chloride.
QHow many times can the electrodes be used?
AIn principle, electrodes are disposable, but we can design electrodes suitable for the number of uses required to suit customer needs.
QCan the product be washed with water?
AThe gel can be washed with a very small amount of water without problems, however the structure of the electrode pad itself prevents it from being water washable.
QCan the product transmit ultrasound?
AWe can assist with the design of gel for biological transmission in customer designed ultrasonic treatment electrodes, diagnostic and other ultrasonic devices.
QAre the electrodes safe for the human body?
AThe gel materials maintain high levels of safety in all required biological tests in safety evaluations for medical device classifications in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

Cosmetic Applications

QCan the size of the electrode pad be altered? Can a logo be printed on it?
AThe side of the pads can be altered and logos printed to meet customer needs.
QHow long can the electrode pads be used for?
AIn principle, the electrode pads are disposable, and should be replaced when there is a loss of adhesiveness, element parts break, or any discoloration is noticed. The pads should also be replaced 1 month after opening, even if not otherwise damaged.
QWhat are the differences between your products and gel pack materials from other companies?
AThe main difference would be that our products secrete beauty essence over time after being opened. Other company's gel pack materials simply dry out and shrink over time and do not secrete liquids.
QCan quasi-drugs also be produced?
AWe are able to product both cosmetics and quasi-drugs.
QCan vitamin C be added?
AGlucoside derivatives of vitamin C can be added to quasi-drugs (to whiten skin).
QIs the gel acidic or alkaline?
AThe gel is weakly acidic, with a pH of 5.5-6.5.
QCan prototypes be produced?
AIf you can provide or inform our company of the cosmetic components to be added, we can produce prototypes. Contact us to discuss quantities, delivery date and other conditions.
QWhat are the differences between SR and SRH grade electrode pads and SRGP grade and CP grade processed gel products?
AThe raw materials and manufacturing methods differ, but the most pronounced difference is water content. The water content of cosmetics and quasi-drugs for skin care can be as high as 80%.
